One 250 mL (8½ fl oz) bottle

Orally, chrysanthemum is used to treat angina, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, fever, cold, headache, dizziness, and swelling. It is believed to have anti-bacterial properties. The Chrysanthemum flower is used to make a popular tea in China, and is used as a folk remedy for colds and flus. Some customers have used it to treat asthma, and have reported that they were able to stop using inhalers.

Ingredients: Chrysanthemum

Area of Effect: Lungs, Kidneys, Liver

Directions: 1 tablespoonful (about 15 mL) daily on empty stomach for cold prevention. 1 teaspoonful (about 5 mL) 3 or more times daily when having a cold.

The Chrysanthemum flower is also known as Ju Hua. It has been made into a summertime tea in China for generations, and it has been traditionally used to treat angina, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, fever, cold, headache, dizziness, and swelling. According to preliminary medical research, chrysanthemum may have antibacterial and antipyretic effects, it may increase insulin sensitivity, and it may also increase blood flow[1]. In Chinese medicine, it is known as a "cooling" herb which is aromatic and light, and which is particularly effective for "clearing heat", strengthening the liver, clearing the eyes, and removing toxicity[2].

In the classic Chinese text The Divine Husbandman's Classic of the Materia Medica, it is said that when Chrysanthemum is taken regularly over the long term, "it will facilitate the qi and the blood, lighten the body, and prevent aging."

The Thoroughly Revised Materia Medica elaborates on the properties of Chrysanthemum thusly:

Sweet chrysanthemum flower is sweet, bitter, and slightly cold. Thoroughly imbued with the qi of the four seasons, it sprouts in winter, produces leaves in spring, blossoms in summer, and reaches full flower in autumn. In its fullness, it embraces the frost and succumbs to the essence of metal and water, thus it is able to benefit the two organs, the Lungs and Kidneys.

...

Thus, it can nourish the eyes and the blood [and thereby] expel superficial visual obstructions.

Chrysanthemum is considered an excellent herb for people who have chronic eye strain (an increasingly common problem in the modern era of office workers who must stare at computer monitors all day long). Its anti-toxin and anti-bacterial properties also make it a popular remedy and preventive treatment for colds and flus. Some people even report that they can be free of colds and flus all winter long by taking Chrysanthemum regularly as a preventive measure. Customers have reported in the past that they used it to treat their asthma, and were able to stop using inhalers as a result.

Notes:

  • In Chinese medicine, Chrysanthemum is considered safe for long-term use.
  • For headaches, Chrysanthemum also seems to be more effective than feverfew (Chrysanthemum Parthenium). Other types of liver-related headaches can also be relieved effectively.
  • It helps asthma in many cases. In one particular case, a 48-year old man who was on puffer for 25 years was freed from puffer and asthma symptoms after using 7 to 8 bottles of Chrysanthemum tincture.
